House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) confirmed that with the censuring of Representatives Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Trump’s enemies in the Republican Party have been totally defeated.
During an interview on Fox News Channel’s “The Story” on Friday, McCarthy said that Cheney and Kinzinger’s careers are over and they will have a “hard time ever coming back to Congress.”
Kinzinger has already announced he is retiring at the end of his term, and Cheney is in a desperate battle to keep her seat. Even if she somehow survives the next election, she will be a pariah among Republicans.
Cheney’s disgraceful conduct in participating in the Democrat Party’s January 6th Committee has permanently stained her image among Republican voters.
At the same time, Cheney’s willingness to embrace the campaign of support from Democrats has made it clear that the Republican Party has some housecleaning to do.
Gone are the days when a candidate could get by with just having an (R) next to their name. Now Republican voters are demanding authenticity and a commitment to a conservative agenda.
