President Trump’s recent executive order will drop like a hammer on local governments that don’t enforce the law and crack down on rioters.
Acting Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli went on Friday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” to discuss the specifics of the executive order.
“As a former state legislator, if you want to get state legislators’ and governors’ attention, talk to them about their pocketbooks. And when they’re busy not enforcing the law, that’s something that is legitimate to bring into play, and President Trump has put it firmly on the table.”
The riots of the past few weeks were often enabled by weak or sympathetic governors and mayors who looked the other way when criminals were smashing businesses and vandalizing everything in sight.
All this destruction and lawlessness has been committed in the names of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.
If local authorities fail to stop lawlessness under the new order, they could face funding cuts from the federal government. Now with real consequences in place, hopefully, we will see an end to the violence and lawlessness.
