President Donald Trump just delivered for the American people again. One of his biggest promises — perhaps even his biggest — has become reality. This is a great day for our nation.
During a press conference announcing that the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has officially replaced NAFTA, he explained the significance of this moment for all Americans.
In his statement, he said that since the USMCA is “entering into full force, our grateful Nation pays tribute to America’s workers and celebrates their ability to overcome decades of bad deals and failed policies.”
Trump also noted how the USMCA “is the largest, fairest, and most balanced trade agreement ever negotiated” and “a tremendous victory” for manufacturers, autoworkers, and agriculture.
On the 2016 campaign trail, Trump spoke often about the need to renegotiate trade deals — particularly the Clinton-era NAFTA deal, which was unfair to American workers and our nation’s economy.
Now, Trump can formally add “replacing NAFTA” on his growing list of kept promises during his first time. Americans would be wise to give him a second term — because he is just getting started.
