President Trump announced that the suspected murderer of 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro has been arrested.
During a press conference on Thursday, Attorney General William Barr said, “Today’s arrest of LeGend Taliferro’s suspected murderer marks a significant step forward in his case and illustrates the potential of Operation Legend more broadly.”
Operation Legend is an effort by federal law enforcement to target rising rates of violent crime in cities like Chicago.
President Trump previously met with Taliferro’s parents in July and held an event to promote the initiative and its mission of targeting violent crime.
LeGend’s mother, Charron Powell, spoke at the event and said, “Operation Legend is not to harass, it’s not to harm or to hurt. It is to help investigate unsolved murders, in which one of those happens to be our innocent four-year-old son. This operation is personal to us. We want justice for our son and others.”
The social unrest of the last few months has led to a spike in violent crime throughout American cities. The loss of innocent life has been tragic and President Trump is committed to putting a stop to it all.
