President Trump may have to say goodbye to a rally tradition as BMI, the musical and performing rights organization is demanding the President stop using the Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
The Trump campaign has a deal with BMI that entitles the campaign to play over 15 million different songs. However, there is a clause that allows the BMI to deny the use of individual songs.
A BMI spokesman said, “BMI has received such an objection and sent a letter notifying the Trump campaign that the Rolling Stones’ works have been removed from the campaign license, and advising the campaign that any future use of these musical compositions will be in breach of its license agreement with BMI.”
The Rolling Stones join a list of artists who have demanded the President not play their music at his rallies.
Apparently the Rolling Stones have no problems with appearing old and stodgy over a very simple issue. The ‘Stones have come a long way since their more rebellious days.
This won’t be a huge loss to the President’s rallies. President Trump can simply choose to play the music of younger more open-minded artists.
