Tragic news just struck Judge Amy Coney Barrett. She responded to the attacks this week, specifically the “cruel” and hateful ones aimed at her family. Her children, in particular, have been negatively affected.
During Barrett’s confirmation hearings, Sen. John Kennedy (D-LA) brought up the recent comments by Ibram X. Kendi, a Boston University professor, who implied that Barrett was a “white colonizer” using her adopted black children.
Kennedy remarked that “because you and your husband have two children of color that you’re a white colonist,” invoking Kendi’s words. “The implication is that you’re racist and that you use your two children as props.”
Barrett responded eloquently and passionately to the accusation, revealing that her family counted the cost together before officially accepting President Donald Trump’s nomination. This leftist professor should take note of her words.
“Senator Kennedy, it was the risk of people saying things like that which would be so hurtful to my family […] that my husband and I really had to weigh the costs of this,” said Barrett, calling the accusations “deeply offensive” and “cruel.”
She also spoke directly about her two adopted children from Haiti, saying that the the rhetoric of Kendi and other radical leftists is “hurtful to my children, who are my children, who we love and who we brought home and made part of our family.”
