A Marine Colonel who served in Afghanistan faces a dishonorable discharge from the military for refusing to get the COVID vaccine, even though he has two heart conditions.
The Marine said that he cannot take a vaccine that has caused heart inflammation and blood clots given his health status, but was told the only heart-related medical exemption from the vaccine is for congenital heart failure.
Military members who refuse to get the vaccine could lose benefits, honors and rights to which they would be entitled as members of the military. They could also face a court martial, six months of imprisonment and/or solitary confinement along with a felony conviction.
Senators are attempting to pass legislation preventing military members from being dishonorably discharged, but they face an uphill battle since Democrats narrowly control the chamber.
And having had COVID-19 is not considered a reason not to get the vaccine, even though antibodies have been long-lasting after infection. Basically, the mandate is a slap in the face to some of the hardest-working, most selfless people in our country.
