Comedic talk show host Bill Maher defended Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and criticized the organization for fining him $100,000 for expressing an opinion they didn’t like on Twitter.
Two weeks ago, Del Rio asked on Twitter why Congress wanted to hold hearings on January 6 but not on the BLM riots, which were arguably more violent and longer-lasting.
A week later, he clarified, “I see the images on TV, people’s livelihoods are being destroyed. Businesses are being burned down. No problem. And then we have a dust-up at the Capitol, where nothing burned down. And we’re going to make that a major deal.”
“He has the right to be wrong,” Maher said. “In America, you have the right to be wrong. They fined him, the team fined him, $100,000 for this opinion. Fining people for an opinion. I am not down with that.”
It is starting to seem like the things that have defined America and made it the beacon of freedom that it is are all being destroyed, one by one. If free speech goes, however, that will be the final nail in the coffin for this great country.
