Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) said on Wednesday that he will introduce a resolution to expel newly seated Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from Congress because of what he called “extremism,” support for “political violence” and even “sedition.”
Gomez pointed to previous social media posts that appeared to support various conspiracy theories including Q-Anon and a theory that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job, as well as support for other posts calling for violence against members of Congress and former President Barack Obama, as reasons Greene should be ousted.
Greene said that others previously posted on her social media pages for her and that some of the posts did not represent her views.
The resolution would require two-thirds of the House to vote for it in order for it to be adopted, which is not likely to happen.
“Democrats and their spokesmen in the Fake News Media will stop at nothing to defeat conservative Republicans,” Greene said in response to the announcement by Gomez.
