A high-ranking politician was just poisoned and millions of people are stunned. According to the news, doctors had to respond immediately in order to save his life. This is a shocking development.
“Russian politician and anti-Putin dissident Alexei Navalny has been flown to a medical center in Germany to receive emergency medical treatment after he fell critically ill this week from drinking tea that was reportedly laced with poison,” reported the Washington Examiner.
Navalny is now in “an induced coma” so his body has a better chance at recovering, but no other reports have been released yet — other than a confirmation “that if there had not been an emergency landing … he would have died.”
Now another question has emerged: Will an investigation be launched into Navalny’s alleged poisoning? After all, the politician “has been a thorn in the side of the Kremlin for close to a decade,” so a potential motive seems abundantly clear.
If there is one thing Russian President Vladimir Putin dislikes, it is competition. Navalny was even prevented from running for president two years ago, and now his medical state has brought Putin’s strongarm tactics back to the forefront.
Putin, 67, was president of Russia from 2000-2008 and then prime minister from 2008-2012. He has since become president once again and somehow repeatedly escapes credible challengers during a national election.
