President Emmanuel Macron has tapped Jean Castex to be the new prime minister.
Philippe’s political future is uncertain and is largely in the hands of the investigation that hangs over his time in office. But Philippe, a conservative, enjoys more popularity than Macron and is seen by many as a rival.
