Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) took issue with the continuing presence of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. during an appearance on Fox&Friends Thursday.
He pointed out that Congress was not even in session this week, but the troops were still on duty there. Who were they protecting?
“It is time to send the troops home,” he said. “Look, there are too many — too many troops left in Washington. I’m not aware of any threat to justify continued presence today around the Capitol, much less into the fall.”
Cotton went on to raise questions about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s role in security failures that played a role in the Capitol riot on January 6.
“I think Nancy Pelosi will have a lot of questions to answer about what she knew leading up to the riot on January 6. There was a clear failure by the security leaders on Capitol Hill to prepare for January 6,” he said.
