There has been great speculation about former President Donald Trump’s plan for his political future. However, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has an inside scoop.
According to Washington Examiner, “McCarthy says he and former President Donald Trump want to see each other in leadership positions helming GOP majorities in the near future.”
“You know, I’ve talked to President Trump many times,” said McCarthy. “He tells me he wants me to be speaker, and I think he should be president.”
As of the time of this writing, Trump has only hinted at a possible run but seems clear that any run would be for the GOP rather than a third party.
“We’re not starting new parties. You know, they kept saying, ‘He’s gonna start a brand new party.’ We have the Republican Party,” said Trump at a recent event. “It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before. I am not starting a new party.”
