Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) claimed Wednesday that Hearst Corporation, the publisher of Esquire, sent “known left-wing assassin” Ryan Lizza to harass his family as part of a campaign to defame him.
Nunes made the comments because an appeals court recently rejected Nunes’ suit against Hearst and Lizza, but revived his claim that Lizza libeled him by tweeting about the story more than a year later.
“I’ll get my day in court,” Nunes tweeted. “This reporter stalked my family… then published an utterly false hit piece making wild accusations against me & my family.”
Nunes also called on Republicans to stop dealing with the left-wing media attack machine.
“It’s really just the propaganda arm of the Democratic National Committee,” he remarked, “so why Republicans talk to these people, I have absolutely no idea. I just can’t figure it out.”
