Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) told the Washington Examiner that when it was Republicans’ turn to use subpoenas against Democrats who were being investigated for misconduct, they would do so fairly and in a transparent way.
“I’m a big believer in fairness and due process. That’s not what we’re seeing from the other side,” Biggs said.
Biggs was reacting to Democrats asking telecom companies to preserve records of top Republicans and members of the Trump family around the time of the January 6 riot in order to find out what they were saying and texting.
The Republicans whose records were requested have not been notified that they are under investigation, Biggs said. Instead, Democrats leaked a list of names including Biggs, Matt Gaetz of Florida, and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
“That’s just being a jerk. We’re not going to do that when we’re in power,” Biggs said, although Republicans are now doing so in retaliation.
