Democrat Senator Dick Blumenthal (CT) issued a press release savaging the Biden administration on Monday for delaying flights out of Afghanistan containing Americans and Afghan allies.
Blumenthal, who serves on the Armed Services committee and has two sons in military servicce, said he and his staff had been working around the clock to get the planes out of the country.
“My office joined forces in this humanitarian mission with an incredible coalition of advocates – NGOs, former servicemembers, and journalists – to try and evacuate our fellow citizens and Afghan allies,” Blumenthal said.
He said he was “deeply frustrated, even furious” about the administration’s “delay and inaction” in getting these planes out of the country.
“These are Americans citizens and Afghans who risked everything for our country,” Blumenthal wrote. “We cannot leave them behind.”
