In New Hampshire, more than half of the state’s Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion resigned Tuesday after Governor Chris Sununu (R) signed a bill that would ban the teaching of critical race theory in the state.
“Governor, we feel obligated to inform you that — contrary to your recent public statements — systemic racism does in fact exist here in New Hampshire,” they wrote in a letter to Sununu.
They also said Sununu’s ban was in “direct conflict” with the council’s mission to “combat discrimination and advance diversity and inclusion.”
These kinds of battles are raging in many states as their leaders grapple with whether they want to teach schoolchildren that all whites are racist and that the American system itself is racist, too.
Most people in the U.S. don’t believe what critical race theory teaches, and they don’t want their kids to learn these damaging falsehoods either.
