Breitbart editor-at-large John Nolte said in an op-ed just before the House announced two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump that doing so seems to be a “kamikaze mission” for Democrats.
Nolte pointed out that polls continue to shift toward Trump as the impeachment process moves forward, with swing state polling having shifted as much as 21 points between March and December. In Michigan, for instance, Biden was projected to beat Trump by 12 points in March, and is now polling nine points behind.
Trump is also ahead of all Democrat candidates in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. These three states were won narrowly by Trump in the 2016 election, but had traditionally gone to Democrat candidates in previous elections.
Nolte also noted that many Democrats in the House are vulnerable to losing their seats over impeachment. Majorities of voters in many moderate Democrat districts want the House to drop impeachment efforts and stand ready to punish their local representatives if they vote to impeach Trump.
“Democrats have boxed themselves in,” Nolte concludes. After all the hype and attention on impeachment, they really can’t just drop it now, even if it damages them politically.
