Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) is leading his main challenger, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D) in polls on the governor’s race later this year.
A Dallas Morning News-University of Texas at Tyler poll showed that Abbott has 46% support from registered voters, while O’Rourke only has 39%.
Abbott’s approval rating is slightly higher than O’Rourke’s, 46 to 44%, but more voters seem hesitant to vote for O’Rourke even if they personally like him.
Abbott also had higher numbers (71%) who said they were certain about their vote, while O’Rourke only had 46% who were sure they would vote for him.
Abbott’s moves to counter Biden’s lax immigration policies also got majority support in the poll.
