Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) called on Thursday for Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) to resign from their positions because they have “broken their oath of office.”
Murray felt they contributed to the Capitol riots on Wednesday by objecting to the election results in some states.
She accused them of supporting “the power of force over the power of democracy” by their actions, even though they did not actually support the violence that occurred.
No elected Republican including President Donald Trump has condoned or excused the violence, in fact.
Democrats just can’t resist painting Republicans with a broad brush in an attempt to sideline and delegitimize them, which is why it isn’t going to work.
