Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), pulled the trigger and called the NFL’s plan to play a “black national anthem” before its season-opening games an “asinine” plan.
How many national anthems do we have?? Is there an Hispanic national anthem? An Asian-American national anthem?
This is asinine. We are ONE America. E Pluribus Unum. https://t.co/nv0djWREnH

The plan of the NFL to play the song Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing before the Star Spangled Banner during its week 1 games has attracted intense criticism.
Former NFL player and GOP congressional candidate Burgess Owens said, “There is no “black national anthem.” Why does it feel like the country is trying to segregate again sometimes?”
The segregationist-thinking the NFL has embraced is sure to end badly when it comes to viewership.
Sports leagues need to make every effort to resist the politicization of their sports and remember they are there to provide an escape from politics.
The Star-Spangled Banner is a banner that Americans of all colors and creeds can rally under. The NFL should remember this and throw out their “asinine” plan.
