Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) tore into former CIA director John Brennan for supporting Iran while “reflexively condemning Israel.”
Cruz called out Brennan saying, “It’s bizarre to see a former head of the CIA consistently side with Iranian zealots who chant ‘Death to America.’ And reflexively condemn Israel. Does Joe Biden agree?”
Cruz’s statement came in response to Brennan saying, “This was a criminal act & highly reckless. It risks lethal retaliation & a new round of regional conflict. Iranian leaders would be wise to wait for the return of responsible American leadership on the global stage & to resist the urge to respond against perceived culprits.”
Brennan’s comments on how Iran should “wait” for the “return of responsible American leadership” sound ominous. It almost sounds like Brennan is saying Joe Biden will be more amicable to Iran’s interests.
Brennan forgets that American leadership is supposed to hold American interests over Iranian interests. Considering Brennan is the former CIA director, he could be forgiven for forgetting that important fact.
Lost in this spat is the fact that the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the father of the Iranian bomb, surely throws a wrench in Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which is undeniably good news for the rest of the world.
