Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted President Joe Biden’s climate czar and former Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday for what he called degrading remarks about workers recently laid off when Biden halted construction on the Keystone XL pipeline.
Kerry said in a press conference that laid-off pipeline workers could just get jobs making solar panels, suggesting that that would be a better choice for them and for the environment.
Cruz called those comments “arrogant” and “out of touch,” pointing out it was easy for Kerry to say that because he was a “centimillionaire.”
“It is not a unifying message, and it is not doing the job we should be doing [in] fighting for working men and women in this country,” said Cruz.
Biden has made decisions that will cause the loss of at least 50,000 jobs in the near future, which is unprecedented for a president early in his first term.
