Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) plans to campaign for Republican Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick, one of the front runners in the crowded race, on Thursday and Friday.
Cruz endorsed McCormick as soon as he entered the race, while former President Donald Trump has endorsed his rival Dr. Mehmet Oz, but Oz is facing questions about his connections to Turkey, where he is a dual citizen.
Oz is slightly above McCormick and Kathy Barnette in the race, which will have a large part in determining whether Republicans or Democrats control the Senate after the midterm elections.
Trump’s endorsements have mostly been resulting in front-running candidates, with some notable exceptions like David Perdue in Georgia, who badly trails incumbent Governor Brian Kemp.
Besides Cruz, though, other members of Trump’s former administration including former Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have also deviated from his endorsements in some cases.
