The news just dropped about a potential vacancy on the United States Supreme Court. Millions of people across the nation are stunned by this notice — and President Donald Trump has even responded.
“Speaking from the Diplomatic Reception room of the White House, the president read off a list of names” that included Republican stars like Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Sens. Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, and Josh Hawley.
His new list of 20 possible replacements for an outgoing Supreme Court justice — such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, should she retire — included more traditional choices as well, including current judges serving in the U.S. federal court system.
This means his total list of possibilities has grown to a whopping 45 nominees for an open spot, since it was “added to his previous list of 25 judges.” His previous list included a current favorite to replace Ginsburg, U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Amy Barrett.
The Democratic Party never expected Trump to drop such a strong list less than 55 days until the election, once again proving that Trump is always a step ahead of his political opponents. And Trump’s potential nominees have shown their gratefulness.
“I’m honored that President Trump asked me to consider serving on the Supreme Court and I’m grateful for his confidence,” said Sen. Cotton, who is also rumored to be running for president in 2024. “I will always heed the call of service to our nation.”
