California is no stranger to extreme, far-left policies. Now, the state’s Supreme Court, packed with liberals, has ruled against Catholic missionaries who brought a lawsuit over a mandate forcing them to cover abortion-on-demand.
Five years ago, the state passed a series of regulations to make coverage of abortions in company insurance plans “basic health care” and stripped all moral and religious objections. An organization of Catholic women jumped into action.
The Missionary Guadalupanas of the Holy Spirit, arguing that only abortions to save the life of the mother are medically necessary, also accused the state of passing the mandate in clear violation of the law.
According to reports, the group claimed that California did not allow for a public comment period — something that is required when new administrative rules for an agency are considered.
Interestingly enough, however, internal emails were uncovered between the state’s Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) and Planned Parenthood, in which America’s largest abortion-provider pushed for the regulations.
