As the November election drew near, it was a guarantee that dark political maneuvers would follow. And now, with this announcement about the ‘removal’ of a Supreme Court justice, Democrats have shocked the nation.
“One of the things I’ll ask her is will she recuse herself in terms of any election issues that come before us?” said Sen. Cory Booker (R-NJ) on NBC News, referring to President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
“Because if she does not recuse herself, I fear that the court will be further delegitimized,” Booker continued. From there, he concocted a ridiculous web of conspiracy theories and political intrigue that might as well have been ripped from a bad Hollywood movie.
Booker said: “In other words, President Trump has said I will not accept the result of the election unless I win. I will push it to the Supreme Court, and oh, by the way, during the election, I’m going to put somebody on the court, as well.”
Democrats must really be desperate. Instead of recognizing that Trump has a constitutional right to nominate a successor to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the Senate shall “advise and consent” on the nominee, Booker is playing games on national television.
Unsurprisingly, he also brought up how the GOP-controlled Senate did not take up then-President Barack Obama’s nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, right before an election. But this action was also fully in line with the Senate’s prerogative. There is no hypocrisy here.
