Georgia State Representative Donna McLeod (D) shocked the nation by saying she would rather keep statues of Confederates than erect a statue of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
McLeod’s comments came as plans to erect a statue of Justice Thomas on Georgia statehouse grounds was being debated.
McLeod made her opinion on the issue clear saying, “I’d rather them keep a Confederate monument than a statue of Clarence Thomas. That’s how much I don’t like the idea.”
The irony of a Democrat attacking the memorialization of the 2nd African-American Supreme Court Justice was not lost on Republicans.
Georgia State Senator Brian Strickland said, “Thomas deserves to be memorialized so Georgians for years to come can recognize this man and what he accomplished.”
McLeod’s comments betray the true rot in the Democrat Party. Democrats only view African-Americans as a political tool, which means someone like Clarence Thomas must be condemned, not celebrated.
