The news just dropped about a U.S. Supreme Court bombshell. It has been confirmed on national television — millions of Americans are stunned and the debate is going to rage for weeks.
“We’ve got the votes to confirm Justice Ginsburg’s replacement before the election,” announced Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Fox News this week. But he didn’t stop there, and you can almost hear Democrats’ screeching in the background.
“We’re going to move forward in the committee,” said Graham to host Sean Hannity. “We’re going to report the nomination out of the committee to the floor of the United States Senate so we can vote before the election.”
Democrats must feel helpless knowing there is very little they can do — aside from press conferences and social media posturing — to actually stop Trump’s nominee from being confirmed. The votes have already been counted.
It became a done deal after Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) announced his intention to support Senate hearings for Trump’s nominee. This time, he probably realized it was a wise idea to support his party instead of engaging in his usual antics.
Furthermore, Republicans are also recalling the debates over Justice Brett Kavanaugh and want to show Democrats they won’t be pushed around. “After Kavanaugh, everything changed with me,” said Graham. “They’re not going to intimidate me.”
