Former Attorney General Eric Holder sat down with Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation,” and said that more justices will be needed on the Supreme Court if President Trump’s nominee to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg is confirmed.
Holder said that if elected, Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden needs to take radical action. “You would put in place — if this is allowed to happen, a 6-3 court,” he said. “And with all the issues you have talked about, you would have a conservative majority — or illegitimate conservative majority on the court ruling on the matters that will affect the nation for generations to come.”
What Holder is suggesting is that Biden expands the number of justices on the Supreme Court which is both unprecedented and subverts the integrity of the judiciary.
Holder continued saying, “So I think if, if in fact, they are successful in placing a justice on the court, I think that what Democrats have to do, assuming that Biden is president and there is a Senate majority for the Democrats, we need to think about court reform. And at a minimum, as part of that reform package, I think additional justices need to be placed on the Supreme Court.”
If Joe Biden wins the election there is no doubt that he will make attempts to expand the court. Republicans need to keep this in mind on the campaign trail.
If Democrats are allowed to pack the court it will set a precedent of constant expansions of the Supreme Court when political power swings between parties. The Democrat Party does not care about the integrity of our institutions, they only care about power.
