Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff, Marc Short, warned that Democrats will come hard and heavy at President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee and attack her using all methods available to them.
When President Trump nominated Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to replace retired Justice Anthony Kennedy, Democrats slandered and smeared him for months.
Short said, “I can’t get ahead of the president’s announcement at five, but I know your listeners will be pleased with the announcement at five,” Short said. “Having a finalist that’s been through recent battles with the confirmation hearings within the last couple of years… the record is well known. There’s no doubt this will be a seminal fight. If I can, I’d like to implore your listeners to pray for the nominee and her family because they will be attacked mercilessly.”
While Trump’s nominee will face a merciless onslaught, it may be a little better for them than it was for Justice Kavanaugh.
It is widely expected that President Trump will be nominating judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat vacated by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Republicans may have a handy opportunity to turn the identity politics game against Democrats as Amy Coney Barrett is decidedly not a man and presents more of a challenge for the Democrat’s identitarian attacks.
