A five-person British Sky News team came under fire while filming near Kyiv on Monday, and two members including correspondent Stuart Ramsay were hit with bullets in the torso, where they were protected by body armor.
The team used their vehicle as cover and then fled the scene to escape the shooting, which lasted about a minute. They reportedly shouted “stop” and “journalist” but were forced to flee.
They had been trying to get to Bucha about 18 miles away from Kyiv, but encountered delays and obstacles that drove them back toward the capital.
They thought their attackers were Ukrainians who mistook them for Russians, but they were later told that they were waylaid by Russian saboteurs.
The team has now been recalled to the UK for safety reasons.
