The special counsel just confirmed it. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is completely ruined — his impeachment witch-hunt is close to over now, and he’ll have nothing to show for it.
Ken Starr, who served as independent, special counsel during the Clinton impeachment effort, revealed on Fox News that he’s “stunned” about Gordon Sondland’s ommission this week while testifying before Congress.
Sondland, the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, did not include a key statement from President Trump in his opening remarks. Trump reportedly told him, “I want nothing, I want no quid pro quo” from Ukraine.
Starr said: “I’m stunned that that comment would have not have come out in the opening statement. Why? Are you trying to be fair? Are you trying to be complete?”
He continued by saying that “there is no excuse for this ambassador appointed by this president to leave out such a material omission,” and he’s right, of course. Sondland should not have withheld this information.
But it changes the entire Democrat narrative. Since Trump made it clear that he wasn’t interested in quid pro quo — which Sondland later admitted, in fact — then there’s no reason for impeachment to be on the table.
