There were 27 shootings, one of them fatal, between Friday and Saturday night in Chicago, a city run by Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D).
The fatality occurred on North Ridgeway at about 9:23 a.m. on Saturday, when a man was shot multiple times and died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The deadly weekend follows last weekend, when 70 people were shot and 12 were killed in the city.
Last Monday and Tuesday, 15 people were shot each day in the city.
Over 2,100 people have been shot and wounded in Chicago in 2021, and over 440 have been shot and killed.
