In Chicago over the weekend, 24 people were shot in under 24 hours, from Saturday night until Sunday morning.
Two of the shooting victims died from their wounds, adding to the sky-high number of shootings in the city in 2021.
Another 16 people were shot Friday night until Saturday afternoon in the city. Earlier in the week, 25 more people were shot on Monday and Tuesday.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) has still not put a plan in place to decrease the number of shootings or said what she will do about them over the long term.
She wants to blame a lack of gun control for the problem, but Chicago actually has a lot stricter gun laws than many other cities.
