A shocking Senate announcement was just issued. President Trump is furious — this goes against American history and possibly even the Constitution itself.
Instead of sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, which is customary and expected, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has “failed to give a timeline for when the Senate can expect” them.
This idea “gained traction among some of the political left as a way to potentially force Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell … to conduct a trial on more favorable terms for Democrats,” said one report.
And there you have it. House Democrats impeached Trump in one of the most blatantly partisan witch-hunts in U.S. history, and now, since McConnell is playing hardball, Pelosi wants to delay the process.
Americans will not look kindly on this move; it smacks of desperation and obstruction. Pelosi is the one who allowed it to get this far, and she likely regrets it now. But she is trying to extend the issue for political reasons.
If she sends the articles to the Senate now, the trial will end in a few short weeks or less — with Trump remaining in office. However, Democrats are already heading for a defeat in 2020 and nothing can stop that.
