It was just made official — she is taking over the top spot and Republicans are stunned. Many lawmakers are wondering what is going to happen next.
“The United States Senate voted Monday to confirm Janet Yellen as the nation’s next Secretary of the Treasury, making her the first woman to hold the position in American history,” reported Breitbart News.
“Yellen, a Democrat, was confirmed by the Senate in an 84-15 vote, with all 15 ‘no’ votes stemming from Republicans,” the report continued. Yellen previously served as chair of the Federal Reserve.
It has yet to be seen how Yellen’s confirmation to the Treasury Department will impact U.S. policy, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) expects to have “spirited policy discussions” with her.
However, McConnell also recognized that she was a “qualified and mainstream” candidate. This isn’t something that can be said about all of Biden’s nominees — some of them are blatantly ideological choices.
For example, Biden has chosen California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He has zero experience in healthcare, but he is a master litigator for left-wing causes.
