Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has announced that she will be campaigning to secure the Democrat Party’s nomination for Arizona governor.
Hobbs announced her candidacy in a statement saying, “I am running for Governor to deliver transparency, accountability, and results for Arizonans, just like I have done my whole career.”
While Hobbs’s announcement starts in an innocuous manner, it quickly gets into the political weeds. Hobbs continued saying, “Right now, our state government is being run by conspiracy theorists who are more focused on political posturing than getting things done, and that needs to change. As Governor, I will do what I have always done: put aside our differences and work to solve the serious problems facing Arizona.”
Hobbs makes it clear that she has no interest in vetting our elections or ensuring election security. Furthermore, she will not be the last Democrat attacking the ongoing election audit in Arizona’s Maricopa county.
Hobbs is jumping into a crowded race alongside the likes of Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee and former Nogales Mayor Marco Lopez.
Democrats may have taken Arizona in the 2020 presidential election, but the state is by no means blue. Arizona is very much a battleground state, and Hobbs has a long road ahead of her if she wants to be governor.
