Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that convicted sex trafficker Ghislane Maxwell should be sentenced to 30-to-35 years in prison for her role in grooming girls for Jeffrey Epstein.
“Her practice of targeting vulnerable victims reflects her view that struggling young girls could be treated like disposable objects,” prosecutors said, and added that her actions were “monstrous” and “shockingly predatory.”
Maxwell’s lawyers argued for a much lighter sentence of no more than five years and three months, contending that she is being scapegoated for Epstein’s crimes.
But prosecutors said Maxwell played an “instrumental role in the horrific sexual abuse of multiple young teenage girls.”
She will be sentenced next Tuesday.
