Longtime Maryland Democrat and Chair of the Baltimore city delegation Cheryl Glenn has resigned abruptly from her position without giving a reason.
Glenn, 68, said on Thursday that her resignation was for personal reasons and she had no other comments.
She was the former head of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus. House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones (D) wished Glenn well in a statement.
Glenn advocated for legalization of medical marijuana and supported a crime bill that toughened penalties for violent offenses.
Several other Democrat colleagues in Maryland also resigned recently because of health challenges and a wire fraud charge.
