The Michigan Supreme Court denied Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s request to extend emergency powers she has been using to control the state illegally since April 30.
Whitmer had wanted 28 days to “transition” from the emergency orders, given that she now has to work with the Republican-dominated state legislature on any continuing order.
She has already instituted new mask orders and other restrictions under directives from the health director under a different law from the one the court struck down.
Other emergency orders are being renegotiated by Whitmer and the legislature, the way it was supposed to be after the first 28 days of virus-related emergency orders.
It took long enough, but Whitmer is finally being put in her place.
