President Trump won a huge victory as moderate Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) reversed her previous position on impeachment witnesses.
Senator Murkowski along with a small contingent of moderate Republicans were the last hope Democrats had.
Murkowski said, “The House chose to send articles of impeachment that are rushed and flawed. I carefully considered the need for additional witnesses and documents, to cure the shortcomings of its process, but ultimately decided that I will vote against considering motions to subpoena.”
Democrats had every opportunity to put together a solid case. In the end, their rash decision making came back to bite them.
So with no new witnesses or documents, there is only one major step to take in the trial; a vote on whether to acquit or impeach President Trump.
With no evidence behind them, impeachment is finally in its death throes. Republicans will acquit President Trump, and it will set the stage for the election season.
