A member of Ukraine’s parliament leaked a series of 2016 phone calls between then-Vice President Joe Biden and then-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko that confirmed that Biden did hold up $1 billion in aid money until Poroshenko fired prosecutor Viktor Shokin.
Video of Biden saying that he tied the aid money to the firing of Shokin surfaced last year, and the phone calls confirm what Biden said in the video.
Nothing in the phone calls mentions that Shokin was investigating Burisma Holdings for corruption at the time of his firing, or that Biden’s son Hunter was serving on the Burisma board and could have also been under investigation.
Joe Biden said the calls were a “nothingburger.”
A Ukrainian official with ties to Burisma’s founder claimed that Hunter Biden was only put on the board of Burisma to “protect” the company from foreign interference.
