Hamilton County (Ohio) Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey has gone on record to say that she believes Ohio residents should need a permit to carry a firearm.
McGuffey said that a pending constitutional carry law, which would not require permits for residents to carry a firearm, would “promote lawlessness” and that it would turn more people into vigilantes.
Allowing people to carry guns without any training or documentation will make it “exponentially harder for law enforcement to prevent gun crimes,” she said.
There are already 21 states that have passed constitutional carry legislation and Georgia and Ohio are gearing up to be 22 and 23.
Alabama, Florida and Alaska are also considering similar legislation.
