Ossoff’s website also reflects his views. He says, “I support a ban on the sale of semi-automatic rifles (“assault weapons”) and high-capacity magazines to the general public.”
To MSNBC, he said, “For semiautomatic weapons, whether they are rifles or handguns, we need strict licensing requirements.”
Many Democrats have called for bans on these weapons after a number of mass shootings has taken place in recent years. Many of the mass shooters have obtained their guns legally and passed background checks to do so, however.
Ossoff will face Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) in a January runoff election that could help decide which party controls the Senate. Perdue is a strong second amendment believer.
