Former White House counsel John Dean, who spent time in jail over Watergate, said Friday that Rudy Giuliani may have been given immunity during a nine-hour interview with the House Select Committee on January 6.
This report should be taken with a grain of salt because Dean only said it was possible, not definite, that Giuliani got immunity. And then there’s where he said it and to whom: Don Lemon on CNN.
Lemon and his audience would love to believe that Giuliani flipped on former President Donald Trump, but it would be more honest and reliable to wait and see what comes of the conversation.
“Nine hours, as a matter of fact, more than nine hours, that’s quite a long time. Does that sound like someone who is taking the Fifth, or is he actually answering questions?” Lemon asked.
Dean then said Giuliani was a skilled prosecutor and may have been able to “thread the needle,” or he may have taken immunity.
