Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) said on Fox News on Wednesday that the media didn’t do its job to investigate New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D)’s nursing home policy for patients with COVID-19 and that fewer people would have died in the state if Cuomo’s policy was looked at more closely.
DeSantis described Bidn as “an anti-Trump” and said, “Had they been doing their jobs back in March of 2020, some of these nursing home policies may have never been able to be sustained.”
“The corporate media never talked about that or cared about [nursing home deaths], even though that’s a decision that had a direct impact on the lives of a lot of very elderly people,” DeSantis said. “And so, I think the media looked at somebody like Cuomo and thought it was an anti-Trump and I think that they were very much interested in weaponizing COVID against Trump. Trump was their villain and Cuomo was kind of their hero.”
As DeSantis pointed out, the narrative “didn’t work out” for the media with Cuomo’s successor practically admitting he covered up info about nursing home deaths andhim being forced to resign.
“Obviously, it doesn’t necessarily work out for them in that regard,” he said. “But at the end of the day, had they been doing their jobs back in March of 2020, some of these nursing home policies may have never been able to be sustained.”
