Utah Sen. Mitt Romney (R) was formally not invited to CPAC this year after he voted with Democrats to call more witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp made the announcement in a tweet Friday. It wasn’t clear whether Romney planned to attend the conservative conference.
In what has been perceived as another slam against Romney, a Utah legislator introduced a bill Friday to allow Senators to be recalled.
State Rep. Tim Quinn said the bill wasn’t related to Romney, but that he just thought it was a good idea.
The Senate voted 51-49 not to call more witnesses, with Romney and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) voting with 47 Democrats in favor of hearing from witnesses.
