Anti-sexual harassment group Time’s Up has joined the chorus of voices calling for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) to resign immediately because of a report by New York Attorney General Letitia James that said Cuomo harassed at least 11 women on his staff and broke state and federal laws in doing so.
Cuomo was found to have engaged “unwelcome and nonconsensual touching” and made “numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women,” the investigation found.
Time’s Up was formed in 2017 after the Harvey Weinstein scandal and has many former Obama officials and loyalists on its board and staff. The group called for an investigation into Cuomo in February, but declined to support Tara Reade’s accusations against then presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Cuomo continues to say that is “affection” was misconstrued and that touching and hugs are just part of his personality that were not meant to be aggressive or sexual.
The group didn’t buy his statements, however, and said, “It’s imperative that he face the consequences of his actions and be held to account by the State Assembly and law enforcement authorities in New York.”
