The San Francisco Sheriff’s Association announced that a huge number of officers would resign to work elsewhere if San Francisco seeks to enforce a vaccine mandate.
In a Facebook post written on Friday, the sheriff union wrote, “The SFDSA has always promoted Covid-19 Safety and has given out masks as well as face shields to first responders and the public during the peak of the pandemic. We believe the data and science speaks for itself and that masking works. The problem we are faced with now is the strict San Francisco Mandate which is vaccinate or be terminated. If deputy sheriffs are forced to vaccinate a percentage of them will retire early or seek employment elsewhere.”
Vaccinate or be terminated is a stance that the city of San Francisco cannot afford.
The post continued saying, “Currently, the staffing at the SFSO is at the lowest it has ever been due to the past 9-month applicant testing restriction placed on the Sheriff’s Office by the Mayor.”
San Francisco is already suffering from high crime rates that are driving San Franciscans elsewhere. Terminating more sheriffs over refusal to vaccinate will only make the situation worse.
San Francisco’s liberal leadership has already gutted law enforcement, and it has become clear that any sheriff or police officer would do better elsewhere. Even if law enforcement groups get this current policy reversed, San Francisco will continue to cut much-needed funding.
